The bicycle racing programme supported by the Jet Fuel Coffee Shop is well into it's second decade.
Over the years, a number of juniors (<19 yrs old) and espoirs (19~23 yrs old) have passed through the programme. Many of them have gone on to bigger and better things.
Perhaps none of them have subsequently established better palmares than the the pride of Boucherville, QC know as Dominique Rollin.
On the lazy last Saturday of Summer, between the Vuelta d'Espana grand tour bike race and the Interbike trade show, Dom passed through Toronto and made time to stop in to the coffee shop that supported his first two years as a professional cyclist.
Unlike recent cycling Twits such as Lance Armstrong and Thor Hushovd who announced their local rides with literal fanfare, Dom was more low-key and simply showed up at Jet Fuel HQ for a ride. His former Directeur Sportif Dave Butler (esq.) was pulling espresso shots and his former riding compatriot (and current Jet Fuel sponsor) Enrico Traini was ready to ride.
Dom's first year as a professional cyclist was at the height of the the Jet Fuel cycling club's professional aspirations circa 2001 when the team's title sponsor was sympatico.ca. That was the only year that the team forsook their distinctive red-and-black jersey's.
