Hugh Black and the crew at True North Cycles
in Guelph, Ontario, Canada organized and held the first National Singlespeed-Cyclocross Championship
race at True North's custom frame-building facility.
The relatively-unsanctioned and un-homologated race made allowances for riders to test in competition some of the latest technological advancements in race-suits, fluid-replacements and multiple-gearless drivetrain conversions.
The overall winner (determined by a raffle-draw) was a awarded a voucher for a custom True North bicycle-frame outfitted with parts by OCTTO Components
, another sponsor of the event.
